Textured Stretch Jersey Dress – Velvet

The style  books make reference to the 'LBD'  ‘little black dress’ aka ‘LBD’ and whilst this dress could happily take the title, it would not be doing her justice because of the textured stretch detail of this fabric.  Its also subtly deceptive as the stretch expands comfortably from a size 12 to 14.

The texture of this fabric is unusual, black ruche fabric  stretches around the body, the pattern a diamond shaped. Its raised texture, with a fine mesh fusing so soft to the touch. Because of the elastane in the fabric it has a wonderful stretch and recovery.  The style on the surface is one of simplicity but its depth is so much more.  One of my fabric finds was for the collar detail, a gorgeous black stretch velvet formed into little gathered peaks, they were meant for each other.  The velvet theme continued to the hemline with a tiny bow on completion and that's how the name stuck - Velvet.
