Abstract Jersey Dress – Purple Lady

One of my magical fabric finds, starting with an unusual abstract print from a West End fabric store that is now a block of flats!  These finds are becoming fewer and far between which is why I am supportive of independent fabric stores and end of line fabrics.

I loved the weight of the weave, the pattern of red circles set on a grey background with purple and white artistic waves diluted into the mix. When you run your hands over the fabric it’s so soft, all very sensual – which is why I thought it would make up beautifully for part of the bodice and skirt.

Contrasted with a supple cotton jersey which acquaints itself with the purple artistry in the main fabric, I liked how they complemented each other. That said, I also felt something was missing, a bit of pizzazz, the unexpected; this is where rummaging through my haberdashery treasure trove yields results.  I came across beads and sequins in colours that blended into the mix of the abstract.

I felt the attributes of the dress, speaks to the personality of the individual, a quiet confidence that enjoys being different;  look at the kimono sleeves that will not settle for being anything less than flamboyant, it's all part of artistry and individuality through clothing.  A mixture of culture and fashion that sets its own pace.
