Paisley and Lace

Boat neck top paisley print with lace insert detail, sleeveless with bound edges.

I like the word ‘synergy’ it speaks of co-operation, things working together in harmony and this word I feel fits perfectly as I describe how the top named Paisley and Lace came to be. I’ve worked with the monochrome paisley fabric previously on a dress named ‘Paisley’, it’s a beautiful fabric, soft to the touch, and in my opinion loves to work in unity with other fabrics.

Having made the dress which I thoroughly enjoyed, with the remaining fabric I wanted to continue exploring what else would look equally as lovely in this print. I knew it would be a going out top of some kind, but I didn’t have a design in mind at the time. I was thinking of necklines that flatter the face and shoulder area, a boat neckline is perfect for this taking its name from that of the bottom of a boat because of the shape. See how everything is connected!

My ideas are starting to formulate, I also wanted this top to be provocative but not overt. Fine lace inserts front and back their burnt-out patterning picks up on the print of the Paisley, this top has an attitude my role is to bring it to life.

For the finished result I can see this top worn with white trousers, or how about a black leather skirt, or what about shorts? It all comes back to synergy a black and white paisley top with lace inserts working in harmony with the separates you choose to wear her with. The only one-of-a-kind.
