Couture Dolman Sleeved Red Wool Jacket – Queenie

I started the design of this tailored jacket with a view from the back first, the theme is based on a Japanese painting where the rivers all flowed to a house as it central theme, I was drawn to the energy of the painting and then I thought how can I translate that into a design?

I also wanted that when the wearer walks away the conversation continues to flows from the front of the jacket to the back, so the house from the painting became a mini pocket and the faux leather edge finished with velvet became the rivers. The embroidered emblem a crown on the pocket flap, salutes our Queendom.

I made myself a couple of these jackets to begin with to test for fit and structure I found them to be really comfortable, the dolman sleeves with the detailed black velvet gusset means when you lift your arms the jacket stays in place because of this additional couture feature, and the invisible zips on the sleeve make for a snug fit around your lower arm and wrist.  Collarless this allows for a voluminous faux fur scarf, or to be worn as is, metal bold themed buttons are fastened with bound buttonholes.  The lining is pure silk black with a touch of 'coral' (of course)!
