Green Velvet Bias Cut Dress.

A dress cut on the bias in woven fabric adds stretch around the body it’s a wonderful technique of cutting for working with silky fabrics to make evening dresses. The fabric wraps around your body caressing your curves, moving with you.

The dress Midsummer Dream does exactly that, it’s the vibrancy of the green colours from the deep ivy to the light green foliage set on crushed silk velvet that had me thinking of grapes on the vine. I wanted to add surface embellishment to lift the design show-off this gorgeous velvet fabric especially the crushed texture. I came across a book with various surface embellishments for fabrics which is how I came up with the idea for the bunch of grapes at the side seam hemline zoom in to take a closer look.

Front and back of this bias cut sleeveless dress has a bound v-neckline allowing for a sumptuous piece of jewellery, an invisible side seam zipper allows you to slip this dress over your head it glides over your body the silk lining performing as sexy as lingerie gently caresses you as this dress falls into place, the experience is pure luxury.
